Meet the Staff of Family Pet Health Center

Kathy Crookes-Vought, DVM

Dr. Kathy graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in 1994. She has worked in the Mattawan area for 16 years. Dr. Kathy likes the small town aspect - she likes going into a store and having people know her.

Dr. Kathy chose the veterinary profession at a young age. While growing up she had a dog that was dying of cancer. The caring and concern the family veterinarian showed for her dog made Dr. Kathy realize that she wanted to bring that same caring and concern to others for their pets.

Dr. Kathy is the proud mother of a son, Sam, who just celebrated his 2nd birthday! She has 3 dogs:

  • Janie Marie, a 10 year old blue merle mix
  • Maggie, an 8 year old blue merle Labrador mix
  • Jack, a 3 year old liver and white Wirehair Pointing Griffon
She also has 2 cats: Todd and Moonbeam

Dr. Kathy loves what she does. Every morning she wakes up anxious to start the day caring for her client's pets and the clients too!

Kevin Doorlag, Technician

Kevin became interested in the Veterinary field during the summer of 2008.  He was employed at Allegan County Sherrif's Department working as a corrections officer but knew he wanted a career change. In 2008 he began observing veterinary work here at Family Pet Health Center and decided that he wanted to become a veterinary technician.  Kevin was hired in August 2010.  He started the Veterinary Technician program and is currently working on his Vet Tech license, which he will have in approximately 1 year.  Kevin says he knows that this is what he wants to do!

Kevin is very empathetic with the patients and their owners.  His caring and concern for both pet and owner is very evident in his work.  Kevin strives to make each pet as comfortable as possible during their stay in the clinic.
